Shea butter is a natural fat that comes from the African Karité tree (Butyrospermum parkii). The tree, which can grow up to 15 feet, bears fruits that look like plums which kernels which contain 50% fat. Shea butter has been used for centuries because of its nourishing and healing properties and is also today commonly used as an ingredient in cosmetics.
